Re: Is it hype? or a possible real answer?

Maybe the solar collectors stay near Earth, so they collect lots of solar energy. Then its just a matter of taking a really long extension cord with you ...

Re: E9-4 CATO

What I found troubling is that Joe had two successful flights out of that pack, and then one fails. It kind of shoots my plan for testing one motor in a pack in a "test" rocket, and if OK, using the remaining ones in my "pride and joy" models. I want to try the new E12s, mostly f...

Re: Pandering President presides over profile of passed over astronomer

I cringe every time Obama does something "science-related". How about when he chartered the head of NASA to drive Muslim outreach and help them feel better about science and math? I thought someone was joking when I first heard it. I don't doubt anything anymore. Nothing seems out of bound...

Re: Estes Scorpion build thread

I have a LOT of Createx. I bought it about 5-6 years ago, after seeing absolutely georgeous rockets painted with them. By a guy named "stymye" over on TRF. I think he was ScaleNut on YORF. If he mentioned heat curing, I just do not remember, and I didn't do that,. So, I had real issues wit...

Re: E9-4 CATO

Now that is troubling. I'm almost at the point of only using reloads for anything E and higher. I remember a D12 CATO many years ago (late 80s or maybe early 90s), but it was from a big group of motors I bought from someone, and had no idea how they were stored. I've fired off A thru D motors withou...

Re: Build Thread from 2058, near the century anniversary of Model Rocketry.

Of all the things you could pick on, you choose hands?? :?: :? How about the fact that the builds visible in the rear are still at the same stage of completion as nearly 40 years earlier. Or that the X-wing fighter still isn't painted? The hands ... well, the TV channel my wife watches all t...

Yep, let them pedestrians participate in the natural selection process. Nobody else is going to get hurt. The ones that scare me are the ones texting on their cell phones while driving.

the fickle nature of E's and F's

I've got a couple packs of E9s, I think from 2009. First pack has been partially used and no issues. But I am a little nervous about using them in anything really special, since they seem to be the culprit in many CATO reports. I'd like to try the E12s but nobody local carries them and I hate to pay...

Tell me what brand that green paint is, if you would. That is bright!

Re: Estes Saturn 1B build

I just checked the weather in Fort Collins and it looked a bit chilly (4°C), so I'm guessing you still haven't gotten the paint on yet. Yesterday and today in Cleveland we were around 16°C, and sunny skies with mild winds. So of course I did yardwork instead of flying. I did get a second coat on my...
