Re: Astro Cam Rehab

Commander said Jan 31, 2016 Luke, if you do decide to gut the thing, could you let me have the internals? In specific I am looking for the "safety lock" which covered the shutter during prep and recovery and kept the film from being accidentally exposed. <instruction sheet> I'd be willing ...

Re: Astro Cam Rehab

bernomatic said Jan 15, 2016 No it did not dissolve in this case, but the pics are in my other wallet... I put the warning up so that some other rehabber didn't get all PO'd by using acetone on plastic only to watch said nose cone melt away. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I was planning on usin...

Are you resurrecting this thing with any particular purpose in mind or just for kicks and "posterity's sake"??

Check first on an inconspicuous place (base of the nose cone shoulder away from any shock cord anchor point) to determine if the acetone can be used on that plastic nose cone. Unfortunately I did not take photos of the entir...

third party gimmick thought

At the beginning of this whole mess, everyone was worried that if Donald Trump didn't get the GOP nomination, he would run as a third party and effectively give the election to Hillary. It was such a big concern, they made everyone sign an agreement that they wouldn't run third party and that they w...

Re: Taking the Big Bertha to new lengths

Well, I uncovered another issue, One which I am not going to correct if it is discovered something is different, but has left me wondering. :? As previously stated, the body tube is now close to the standard length of 45.7 cm (measured 45.6 cm), but, the overall length of a Big Bertha as shown in th...

Re: Taking the Big Bertha to new lengths

I've never seen crazing in primer coats? Did you have incredibly bad humidity that day? The few times I've had crazing is when I've used different brands of paint and had bad reactions between the two. The only other thought might be some kind of contamination, possibly even transferred by your bar...
