SpiderBoy?
If we start down that road, we could take the road less traveled and try using all the new gender words.

Exactly! It's so far left the bridge is up the nacells. :puke: :claw: :claw:
I like that... "bridge is up the nacelles"... reminds me of Scotty's "Up your shaft" remark to the Excelsior's turbolift computer... LOL:)

AFAIC, I'm pretty much done with Star Trek AND Star Wars until the current MORONS that are totally SH!TTING all over it are finished, done, and out the door. The reboot EVERYTHING sucks! (Well, the rebooted BOND franchise with "Casino Royale" and Daniel Craig didn't-- it probably saved the franchise from the UTTER RUBBISH cartoonish nonsense the films had become as the Pierce Brosnan films wound down, but it's been slowly heading downhill ever since "Casino Royale" IMHO.) Yeah I've heard talk that "the next Bond will be black" or now this "woman Bond" thing and I'm just like "F-it, I quit". I swear Hollyweird has become only capable of sh!tting the bed, but then they jump up and down on it and grind it in real good just to make sure!

I tried giving the JJ-verse "Star Trek" a chance, and the first movie "wasn't terrible"... it had enough total shark-jumping moments in it I couldn't enjoy it, and blowing up Vulcan just ruined the movie for me, particularly the incredibly ridiculous and STUPID way they did it... and the plot had holes large enough to suck up a black hole... The ONLY good thing that I can say about that movie was the actor's performances were very good. The next one SUCKED ASS, and that was it-- I was done. I didn't even waste money seeing the third one in the theater... the whole "queer Sulu" thing was enough to kill it for me. Yeah, I know, George Takei was "gay". I don't care; what he does is his business AFAIC... and Takei played a LOT of great roles over the years JUST FINE, like Sulu and the Vietnamese soldier in "The Green Berets". BUT, that's not enough for the "Hollyweird" crowd nowdays-- NOPE! Gotta make SULU queer because George Takei is... I call BS on that one. Plus, from what I saw of the previews, it was just more of the mind-numbingly stupid comic-book-hero crapola NONSENSE that had permeated the last two Trek movies, only at "WARP SPEED"... No thanks, I'll pass...

Now we have the same treatment of the "Star Wars" movies... More JJAbrams stupidity. The ORIGINAL "Star Wars" (A New Hope) wasn't good enough, NOOO... JJ's gotta remake it and put his "spin" on it, and of course the lead has to be a *female* this time, and we gotta have "the black guy" and the "other minorities" and we gotta check off *ALL* the right political boxes, and of course they gotta be the "good guys" because EVERYBODY knows that white males are *EEEVVVVIIILLLL* and only befitting to play the uber space Nazis... What's even FUNNIER if it wasn't so STUPID is that in their fawning tripping over themselves efforts to make "Rey" into the strong FEMALE hero of the film, they have to make her a "Mary Sue" in the process because they OVER-DO it... HELLO! Did any of these idiots ever even WATCH Star Wars?? Princess Leia was a *REAL* strong and independent female character, smart, strong, motivated, and take-charge, knew her stuff, and "got it done", and showed some humanity and yes FEMININITY along the way... she wasn't a friggin' "Mary Sue" that outfights a trained (though ridiculously whiny, juvenile, and limp-wristed) Sith (or whatever Kylo Ren is supposed to be) the first time she picks up a lightsaber... It was just ridiculously stupid and insulting to one's intelligence, but then again, I guess they're catering the the typical libtard millennial; those with a brain need not apply LOL:) Even their "bad guys" are weak and stupid-- Kylo Ren was just an embarrassment to watch. NONE of their characters have ANY compelling or interesting facets to them AT ALL. And it has ONLY GOTTEN WORSE since then! "The Force Awakens" was just a SH!TTY remake of the original Star Wars...

The Last Jedi was simply gawdawful... I won't even waste my time or money seeing the next one in the theater... not unless I see a COMPLETE 180 degree change in direction from "TLJ" and "TFA". They spent like $400 BILLION dollars on CGI for that film, but it's pretty obvious they spent $1.98 on the script and writing... and then of course it's not enough to actually make a GOOD entertaining movie, NO, it *MUST* be a political propaganda piece for the social justice warrior IDIOTS like Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson running ILM... SO, shoehorn some nonsensical crap about the Rebel fleet being tracked down so we can send off our black guy and token chubby Asian chick to some gambling/partying planet where all those EEEVIL rich white weapons dealers hang out in their casino's and luxury and betting on animal races and enslaving kids and other stuff so we can talk about how BAD all that stuff is, whether it makes a lick of sense or NOT... Then what little sliver of interest they DO manage to develop with characters like Captain Phasma (the chrome trooper) and Snoke (emperor wannabe) they TOTALLY p!ss down the tubes in total stupidity, bumping Snoke off partway through the film and Phasma in equally ridiculous fashion in the third act... And again, plot holes large enough to fly a Death Star through.

I haven't even watched "Star Trek Discovery"... from everything I've seen, heard, and read, it's absolute claptrap that bears no similarity to the original Star Trek or the other iterations... I can honestly say that "The Orville" is MUCH better done AND manages to finesse the same sort of "morality plays" into the episodes as the original Trek did in the 60's... it's there but not OBNOXIOUSLY so; even though I sometimes don't agree with the message, I can STILL enjoy the episode because it's not CLOBBERING ME OVER THE HEAD WITH IT... Not like the wannabe's in charge of Star Trek and Star Wars now, just sh!tting all over the characters and everything that has come before, who are incapable of "getting their message" across without blasting it into your face and beating you over the head with it like a d@mn club...

Just seems to me that the ONLY thing the current crop of HOLLYWEIRD idiots seem capable of doing anymore is simply *copying one another*... it's like watching junior high kids in a p!ssing contest with one another... Juvenile and IDIOTIC. The "comic book" movies have become hugely popular and enormous moneymakers over the years, so now EVERY MOVIE has to be a "clone" of the comic book movies, whether it makes sense or not... "pour another $100 million in CGI into it-- THAT is what makes a movie!!!" Yeah, right-- did NOBODY pay attention back in '77 to about '81-82?? Back then the studios snubbed George Lucas and his idea for "Star Wars" because "sci-fi films are ALWAYS expensive and do poorly". SO, he made Star Wars "on his own" by combining CLASSICAL storytelling in a sci-fi setting, (okay sci-fantasy for the die-hards) and combining it with cutting-edge special effects (for the time) and amazing music... caught lightning in a bottle and it was pure gold, laughing all the way to the bank. SO, what does Hollywood do?? Copy it... "Sci fi is HOT!" was the new mantra, and pretty soon ALL SORTS of sci-fi movies are being cranked out, but of course most flop or fall short anyway... Even the original "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" fell into the trap... what the studio suits hadn't figured out was that Star Wars was IMMENSELY SUCCESSFUL because it had an interesting (classical) story with INTERESTING CHARACTERS, was well-written, and had enough visual effects to wow people. The suits thought it was ALL about the special effects, and so they spent megabucks on special effects extravaganza's that were absolute sleepers or had lame characters or boring, nonsensical, or NONEXISTENT stories... (or all three). They thought, like these idgits today, "Spend $100 million bucks on special FX, but $1.98 on the script/writing/screenplay". Then they were shocked and amazed when they flopped...

They FINALLY learned their lessons (unlike these morons today) and in short order "retooled" things to "get it right". Like Star Trek 2, The Wrath of Khan... It was "Horatio Hornblower in space" and used the theme of a "submarine movie" but it had great characters, great writing, and great visuals as well... it saved the franchise, and made them a ton of money doing it.

:claw:

Oh well... at least I have a good DVD library to enjoy... :)

Later! OL J R :)
