Just saw the trailer for the new Star Trek series, "Star Trek-Discovery", link, and all I can say is that I'm underwhelmed. The poor Klingons have gone through another metamorphosis (which will probably be explained in a different story line in ten years). I hate to say it, but it looks heavy on fx, especially CGI. I say give the show the same type of budget (adjusted to today's dollars) was given to the original show and see what new innovations (akin to the transporter idea) somebody comes up with.

Judging by the comments, all is not happy in the Trek-verse

I've seen a couple of trailers and that was enough to know that as a life long Trek fan who saw all the original episodes on TV in the 60's, it's not for me. I do not care for the new movies either nor the alternate time line stuff. Just dragging a once great franchise further down the drain. :(

Yeah, the whole thing has become a hot mess according to folks "in the know" on the inside... After finally greenlighting another Star Trek incarnation, with what seemed like a very good premise written by someone with some promising ideas, the some ham-fisted studio genius seems to have stepped in and ran off the creative guy and after a lot of trouble getting off the ground, including some big time casting changes and other stuff, the series I suppose is FINALLY getting close to getting off the ground, MONTHS after it was supposed to...

Course, it will only be available to US audiences through the CBS-streaming service, and *I* for one am NOT paying for ANY streaming service just for ONE show that looks lackluster at best... and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on CBS-"anything" that interests me otherwise, and hasn't for DECADES...

Even though Netflix is ponying up half the money or owns half interest in the new show, it won't be on Netflix in North America... go figure that one out... Elsewhere in the world it will be, but not here...

Oh well...

Later! OL J R :)

So I guess most of us will be watching "Orville" this fall?
