#1 Would you give up having children to save the planet?

Post by bernomatic »

In the mid aughts, a movie came out called Idiocracy, trailer I highly recommend it. The basic premise of the movie is that intelligent people end up having very few children and that the other end of the spectrum basically reproduce like rabbits, causing an overall decline in the intelligence of the general population over five hundred years.

I won't go into the story and give spoilers, but suffice it to say that per the movie, in five hundred years, people are much less intelligent. Now, you may say "yeah, that's just hollyweird", but two things:

1). this film never got the promotion and coverage it deserved only to find a hindsight perspective following today. So, I surmise after filming, someone may have decided this hit too close to the truth.

2.) The general public progressives just really don't have a clue and follow what their "betters" tell them blindly.

Want proof of number 2?
a recent article on The Guardian website, link goes into the virtues of not having children to save the planet from climate change.
It starts out with Gwen MacKellen, a recycling consultant, who blames all the ills of the world on people (in a nutshell) and doesn't wish to increase the impact on the planet by having children.

It then turns to Leilani Munter, a "vegan hippy chick with a race car". Now I am all for hippy chicks and race cars, and vegans I can take or leave. Now how can you be so all powered enviro-mental and drive a race car :?:

Anyways, dealing with the child issue, in reality I am happy these people have decided not to have children to whom they can pass down their beliefs. if only we could hold on for a generation or two allowing the progressives not to overburden our world with their offspring, we might get back to healthy outlook... but I doubt it.

Good points, all, and I love the ending speculation, however unlikely...

I LOVED Idiocracy... thing is, it's not gonna take 500 years... we're already there! One look on YouTube should prove that... the "flat Earthers" and "Moon landing hoax" believers and about a thousand other idiotic things that people are ENTIRELY serious about...

Then you've got all the nonsense now with fake news, junk science, and decisions being made more and more so that the "right people" end up with the "right results" rather than decisions being made for the common good or in accordance with reality...

Reminds me of the scenes in Idiocracy where their crops are dying, and turns out they're irrigating them with Gatorade or some such-- because it's a legal requirement to do so because "it's packed with the nutrients plants CRAVE!" and some idgit or other successfully lobbied to make it legally required to irrigate with it instead of "plain water". So, the crops are dying from excess salt poisoning the soil...

Believe you me, I see a LOT of that in agriculture... the number one perpetrator and instigator (besides the EPA which is an out-of-control bunch of knee-jerk reactionary tree-huggers with minds totally divorced from reality) is the stupid, no, TOTALLY RETARDED "Humane Society of the United States" (HSUS). They've become about as freakishly off-kilter and extremist fringe element types as the PETA idiots were a few years ago...

But they put sad pictures of sad puppies on TV and have Kaley Cuoco wearing their T-shirt and crying on cue, and people whip out their checkbooks throw their money at them... then they turn around and use all that money to finance a full-fledged war on American agriculture (one of the few domestic industries we have left actually producing substantial exports from the US). All to promote their own feel-good worldview and agenda which is TOTALLY ignorant of the reasons why some things (like farrowing crates, which they've succeeded in outlawing in most hog-raising areas) were developed and used in the FIRST PLACE, and why they CONTINUED to be used to the current day, and why NOT using them is a BAD IDEA (things like, oh, a 500 pound sow flopping down on her babies and killing half of them on average before they're big enough to "get out of the way" or survive... which is a "natural" thing for hogs, which is one of the reasons WHY they have 8-10 or 12 babies at a time instead of 1, extremely rarely 2, like cattle do-- they have a VERY low survival rate WITHOUT HUMAN INTERVENTION (like farrowing crates)... and even LOWER survival rates IN NATURE...

Yet, when the price of meat skyrockets or it becomes unavailable or too expensive for "average folks" to afford, they'll blame "those greedy bastard farmers" while they continue to write checks to the REAL culprits for such stupidity...

I'm fully convinced the human race is too stupid to survive, long term. IMHO the world needs a good enema; its the reason this country is SO full of *oops you said word #1 anymore... we haven't had a good famine or nationwide natural disaster to thin the stupid out of the herd in the last 100-150 years or more... people are TOO "fat and happy" and TOO far removed from the actual REALITIES of life that they don't even know the right questions to ask anymore, let alone are capable of comprehending the complexities of the issues or correctly assessing the impacts of stupid policies and ideas on real-world results... so they believe whatever some idgit or other that's "famous" or puts together the most touching "feel-good" or "guilt ridden" video that strikes an EMOTIONAL cord with them, and allows them to tell them what to think, believe, support, or oppose, and of course usually convinces them to part with their money in the process, and send it to them to "continue the fight for the cause!"...

It has been a long held belief of mine that the socialists who believe in Darwin's theory don't espouse it. They pay lip service to it to help their cause against religion (in particular Christian beliefs) which are their greatest nemesis, but don't truly practice it. Instead they prop up the weak, especially those gullible enough to believe in their rhetoric, so that they can have an underclass to feel superior over and use as they see fit.

The gene pool needs a major chlorine shock....

Witness the daily slaughter on the south and west sides of Chicago. Now it is starting to boil over into other areas of Crook County. The mayor, DA (Called States Attorney here), and moron judges all think that ignoring lawbreaking and releasing violent felons on little or in most cases no bail at all back into the community will cause them to become productive, peaceful members of society.....

I refuse to go into the city any more. Carjackings and wildings are happening downtown now.

You know, I was just there last December, not that anything happened, but I guess when you're in the company of a strapping sailor, the scum don't want to bother you. Thing is  time.

The Naval Recruit Training Command is just down the road from Downtown Chicago. I'm thinking that the judges should start giving the "young gentlemen" he sees a choice. Two years in the slammer or a hitch in the Navy, where

The mission of Recruit Training Command is embodied in the Recruit Division Commander's Creed.

"These recruits are entrusted to my care. I will train them to the best of my ability. I will develop them into smartly disciplined, physically fit, basically trained sailors. I will instill in them, and demonstrate by my own example, the highest standard of Honor, Courage, and Commitment."
No great expense to the citizen of a lowly scumbag sitting in lock up, he'll be earning his living.
