What a way to finish a season! As of now the Cleveland Indians have won 21 games in a row, tying them with the 1935 Chicago Cubs. According to most record books, that tie is for second place in MLB winning streak history. But wait, what's this? The holder of the "longest winning streak in the modern era of Major League Baseball" is the 1916 New York Giants with 26 wins. There is an asterisk there however, those 26 wins came over 27 games. It seems that on game 13 of the win streak, the Giants tied Pittsburgh, then went on to win 14 more games. So does that make sense?
Should Cleveland and Chicago be considered tied for the longest streak? I mean really, if you want to give them a record, give the giants the longest streak without losing a game. Enough with the asterisks already.
