Once again the controversy over the minimum wage hits California.

The reporter in this article can understand that the new laws in the San Francisco Bay area mandating a raise in the minimum wage there to $15 an hour by July of 2018, seems to have had an affect on the areas finances.
Trying to survive on hourly pay of $15 an hour, Gretz feels he has no choice but to make the daily trek up and down the 101. Moving closer to Milpitas and San Jose would mean renting a place that would swallow up the majority of his monthly paycheck.

In search of lower rents, Bay Area residents have moved further away from their jobs – often traveling from one Bay Area city to another for work. According to the US census, for most workers in the Bay Area their commute to work is about 30 minutes long. For those earning $15 and less, however, it can sometimes be as long as one to two hours each way.
So after stating the problem appears to be caused or at least exacerbated by the raise in the minimum wage, does she call for its repeal?

That, would be anathema to a good liberal journalist. Why of course the answer is...
As California becomes the first state to approve a proposal for $15 minimum wage, the question becomes: is $15 an hour enough?
:? :o

Yes that's right, raise the minimum wage even more. See that will stick it to those greedy landlords.

I am reminded of the continuing blossoming of college tuition. My anecdotal observation is that every time the government increases a grant or other financial aid, colleges and universities increase their tuition. Now I may not be a financial giant, but it would seem to me that there is a cause and effect there.

Add in rent control and heavy restrictions on building new housing, and you have a recipe for a disaster in slow motion. In 20 years SF will be nothing but uber rich in gated/guarded homes and welfare bums in substandard public housing.

The sooner California slides onto the bottom of the Pacific the better.

Yep. Reading Victor David Hansen's articles on the changes in California is depressing.

This is the stupidest thing I've read anywhere in a while...

When will some people learn that the socialist utopia never works, no matter where it's tried??

You people just don't see the genius at work here! Raising the "minimum wage" isn't intended to help poor folks achieve the American Dream. The real purpose is to make us healthier by destroying the fast food industry. Forcing progressive eating establishments like McDonald's to "pay a living wage" will eventually put them all out of business and force We the Cattle to eat what we are told.

It's only fair, SO GIT OVER IT and EAT SOME ****!

Actually Ted, I'm beginning to think it's more involved than that. The machines have actually become self aware and are the real owners of the fast food industry. The are playing the politicians as fools and are getting the minimum wage raised so that automated machines become viable replacements for the idiot employees who think McDonald's is more than a starter job and that they should earn a "living wage" working there, dipping fries in oil.

You'll be standing at the counter looking at your burger, extra crispy, wanting "somebody to do something" and the machine taking your complaint will just shut down after 30 seconds of listening to the whining.

Certain restaurants have already started placing "stations" on the tables to take refill requests and more. In a short while, an R2D2 type robot will deliver your meal to the table and that will be it for these minimum wage idiots. But hey, it's okay, the good ole liberals will give ya what ya need to survive on their plantation. Just say Yessah masser and mark that ballot where the D's are.

Oh and least you think I'm letting the RINO's get away, Nah, they'll be passing laws and doing what the libs say, just so Jay Leno doesn't make a joke about them that only the left coasties will laugh at.

Rant Off.
