It is time our government started remembering that our rights are not given to us by them, but are inalienable and granted to us by a higher power.
MacArthur and his church firmly noted the importance of respecting the rightful authority of government. “Insofar as government authorities do not attempt to assert ecclesiastical authority or issue orders that forbid our obedience to God’s law, their authority is to be obeyed whether we agree with their rulings or not,” their statement said.

They also noted, however, that government authority does not extend over Christians’ freedom to assemble as the church. “We do not need the state’s permission to serve and worship our Lord as He has commanded,” they insisted. “Freedom of worship is a command of God, not a privilege granted by the state.”

MacArthur and the elders of Grace Community Church encouraged other congregations to join them in their decision to gather for worship. “It has never been the prerogative of civil government to order, modify, forbid, or mandate worship,” they said. “When, how, and how often the church worships is not subject to Caesar. Caesar himself is subject to God.”
At least some people are pushing back. Let's hope for more. And No, it doesn't have to be a violent protest ala the "peaceful protestors" we are seeing in Portland and other places."

The very fact this is even an issue speaks volumes about just how "inalienable" our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms are... "Shall NOT be infringed" and "shall NOT be abridged" has been replaced by "the gubmint giveth, and the gubmint taketh away"...

Certainly troubling we even have to address the issue, because it's very specific... The Constitution doesn't have any "exceptions" or "conditions" added to those statements... " The freedom of religion and free exercise thereof SHALL NOT be infringed". Doesn't say "except when the gubmint deems necessary". BTW the right to PEACEABLY assemble is also not to be infringed and is Constitutionally guaranteed. This if course disqualifies UN-peaceable assembly such as riots, looting, takeovers, blockading legal highways or buildings, etc.

BUT, in my dealings with "the law" in this country over the past several years, few as they've been, there has been a VERY disturbing trend readily apparent... The "law" no longer is what the book says, what's actually encoded in the law and interpreted by court precedent, NO, "the law" seems to be "whatever the idiot behind the badge and gun, or behind the front desk SAYS it is or what THEY FEEL it is". You cannot have "rule of law" when the law is SO open to interpretation or subject to capricious enforcement in whatever manner the other guy SAYS it means, instead of what it ACTUALLY means and says in the code of law... The COURTS are the only ones allowed to "interpret" the law and formulate precedent to define the law and guide its enforcement, but in this day and age, "everybody" wants in the game... From cops who DON'T CARE what the law actually says, but rather whatever they've supposedly been taught or their understanding (or misunderstanding) of what they were taught, to clerks and assistants and other such non-judicial personnel exceeding the requirements of the law or disregarding limitations or protections given in the law and requiring "more hoops be jumped thru" before they'll accept what's already guaranteed...

Just this past week, my sister got her letter testamentary from the court and the will declared in probate for Mom's estate and upon delivering said writs to the bank, giving her complete authority as the executrix to close her existing accounts and too them all into a new estate account to complete the estate and divide the proceeds after bills are paid, the twit at the bank refused saying "she didn't have the authority" to close or open accounts... The lawyer was like "WTF?" and the bank idgit was like "I'll have to investigate...". Yeah, investigate HOW YOU SLEPT THRU "banking and probate law and procedures" when you were in training to be a banker LOL...

People are idiots... OL J R...

PS... The more of this crap I see, the more I think Hugo Drax was right LOL... Push the button and start over again...
