#1 Special News Report

Post by Commander »

SC News reports the latest casualty figures for this past Labor Day Weekend from the front are 6 KIA, 25 WIA.

No those aren't the figures from Afghanistan, if that were the case they would have been broadcast all across the nation with the talking heads screaming, "what are we still doing there?"

These are the totally ignored figures from the middle of a country that hasn't been invaded in over two hundred years. From the heartland and hub of a great nation. From Chicago IL in the US of A.

See the talking heads can't really scream about the wanton deaths and shootings there, because they would just bring attention to the fallacy of their ideals. Besides, what additional gun control laws could they enact? Chicago already has some of the strictest laws on the books, although according to "politifact", that's a pants on fire statement. Chicago toughest on gun control? A claim shot full of holes

According to Politifact
Just about anyone who follows crime trends and gun regulations in the U.S. with any degree of seriousness knows by now that the "Chicago-as-gun-law-Mecca" charge is a canard that lost its last vestige of credibility more than four years ago, when Illinois became the last state in the nation to allow concealed carry of firearms.
Chicago’s reputation for strict gun laws is rooted in its 1982 ban on handguns. When the U.S. Supreme Court’s District of Columbia vs. Heller decision in 2008 struck down a similar ban in the District of Columbia, Chicago was the only major city left with a blanket handgun prohibition. The distinction didn’t last long.

In 2010, the high court followed up Heller with a ruling in McDonald vs. City of Chicago which nullified Chicago’s ban. At that, the concealed carry of firearms was still outlawed in Chicago as it was throughout all of Illinois.

Two years later, however, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the Illinois concealed carry ban as unconstitutional and the state soon after became the last in the nation to approve concealed carry.
Notice anything peculiar? like the word last? Chicago held onto to their draconian gun control laws until forced by the courts to give citizens back their second amendment right to defend themselves. and by the way, My statement was correct in that I used the modifier "some" of the strictest laws. The fact is, that although they arguable aren't the leader anymore, their view is still rigid about gun ownership, being compared to New York and Los Angeles in this article.
 Does Chicago Have The Strictest Gun Laws in the Country?

In this article, they want to blame some of the rampant gun warfare on guns being imported from neighboring locals:
Police have also emphasized that most guns used in Chicago crimes were bought outside of the city or state, where regulations are not as strict.

“What they fail to recognize is we don’t have strict gun laws that hold people accountable,” Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said of critics.
They follow that up with a whine about the not getting harsh enough sentencing:
"The criminal justice system has to step up," Guglielmi said. Chicago should "have zero tolerance on gun crime. If an individual has documented criminal history, especially a felon, this individual should not be out in society walking around with a gun."

The police have implemented a sometimes-controversial program that looks at the victims and suspects in gun crimes, and tries to estimate how many lives could have been saved if gun sentences were harsher and the suspect had been in jail for an earlier gun crime instead of on the street and able to re-offend, Guglielmi said.

Also, many of those arrested on gun crimes become murder victims themselves, but the department says that wouldn't be the case if they had been locked up longer on the original charge in the first place and not on the street.
As I see it, the problem there aren't the laws, it's the coddling of criminals by liberal do-gooder judges and social workers. Has we know, Chicago has been under Democratic control for a while and the last Republican mayor there left office in 1931. So the good law enforcement officers of Chicago can just pat themselves on the back for voting the way their unions tell them for political offices. Maybe they should consider voting for a republican this November. In the words of another politician, "What have you got to lose?" :claw:
