Orpheus was a great dog. His litter mate, Trixie, was no slouch either.
She nearly succumbed to Parvo when in our ignorance about their shots (no hurry in getting them, right?) both her and Orpheus caught it around the age of two years. Being the runt of the litter, it hit her harder and the vet didn't give her much of a chance of surviving. However, with MOAR to not give up and grandma's credit card, she made it through.
The next great adventure was when we were on the verge of homelessness. We were staying in a motel for a couple of months while looking for a new place to live. Orpheus and Trixie went to stay with a family friend till we found some place. Trixie didn't like the it and took off. She was gone on her own for a good two months. The family friend never gave up on finding her and eventually did recover her in a nearby local park.
There are other stories, and I have only hit the highlights on the two above, but it is with great sadness I announce that Trixie has gone to the happy hunting ground to join her brother. She passed two weeks ago Monday and was laid to rest next to her brother.

Sorry to hear this. It's hard to lose a pet.
