Anyways, besides all the other issues I have with airbrushing (tip drying, cleaning the airbrush; o-rings deteriorating due to dope solvents) which has kept me from enjoying and finishing a dozen or so rockets, I ran into another problem. About two or three months ago I was painting an Estes 220 Swift and couldn't get the florescent yellow Createx Colors paint to flow as it was really thick. I tried thinning it down with some 4012 reducer and while initially it looked good, it started to clump up in the cup. I chalked it up to the paint and/or reducer being old and went out to HobbyLobby and bought new stuff. All seemed to be going well when I used the new stuff and I painted the rocket and moved on.
Fast Forward to earlier this week.
I had a Green Eggs Rocket I built and wanted to paint it. I sanding sealed the fins and gave the lower portion a spray can white primer which I had on hand. Then came the heartache. The only white paint I had was an older bottle of Createx Colors. I filled a beaker with some of the paint and added some 4012 reducer and mixed it, so far so good. Then I put it in a spray gun I had since I figured I would be using a lot of white.
I got one coat down and started to have issues with the flow.
