#1 Build Thread from 2058, near the century anniversary of Model Rocketry.
After a recent power surge on the Starport, we found this interesting model rocket build thread in our files. Some of it was indecipherable by us as apparently in this time period (sometime around the middle of the century) they don't just use initialisms and acronyms, they have created symbols for many words and concepts. Yes, that is right, in our near future symbolism has come to take over our writing also. I have posted the picture of one such symbol below which we have a 95% certainty translates to "Equal Outcome Amendment".
After much study, effort, and decryption efforts, we have been able to translate many of these symbols and posts and hereby re-post them here for your perusal. Words or phrases in italics are our best guess at the translation of a symbol.Chief Cook -n- bottle washer

Major SCORE! (best translation? other crew members suggested AWESOME, RADICAL or *oops you said word #7) in the model rocket arena! An unopened out of production vintage Estes Athena #2452. I can't wait to build it.

You ain't just whistling Dixie, what I had to do to get this, filing 10,000 forms and fees, they even 106A'd me. I mean, why do you need a birth certificate (long form) for a model rocket?
So below is a picture of the part's check. Looks like everything is here and in great shape.

Yes, but with the Equal Outcome Amendment §A(1) mode in my 3-D printer, my flaw was to have the cannards not properly aligned. I don't know if I want to launch it, even if I could get permissions for the EPA's micro pollutions output code. Paying a hundred dollars in tax on an 1/2A3-4T just to see a power prang doesn't fill me with joy, elation.I'll skip on launching it.

After reading and re-reading the instructions, I finally realized I was trying to read the German ones. Once I figured that out, I could move on to opening the parachute pack.

Dude!, you better be careful or George Gassaway's Groupies are going to report you to the moderators for opening a sealed package from China without an atmosphere refreshing device running and nearby.

Not to worry, I had one running off camera, and besides the 3-G's don't come to this forum. They don't have an in with the mods. Could you image how {emoticon mad} they'd get if I had used an X-acto knife?
So now a little technique.
I gather the parachute cords at the attachment points to the chute and use a cup hook to pull them out and find the center points. This is a far better way than using the apex as back in the days this was manufactured, that apex could be a whole 3 mm off.
then holding the center point thus found, I gather the threads about a cm away and do the difficult manual task of threading them through the eyehole. I could have used the automatic threader, but it was out of reach at the other end of the card table.

Here's another step that makes me glad the George Gassaway's Groupies don't come here. I went against the printed directions. {eek emoticon}. That's right, I looped the parachute riser cords over the nosecone rather than the parachute itself. I've heard this gives a snugger grip to the parachute and is a much better way to do it.

I know it's been a while, but I finally got the right weather for finishing the Athena!
And now it's complete, I can start applying for permissions for the EPA's micro pollutions output code. I hope to be able to launch sometime around 59172 (January 1, 2062)
